TrueHeart Writes Song for Luke Wilson's New Movie Promotion

MySpace and Lakeshore/Overture Films team up for music video contest

by Ross Vick

DALLAS--The song "Henry Poole is Here" was written in 15 or 20 minutes after TrueHeart songwriter Ross Vick watched the movie trailer.

"Well basically, I just wrote what I saw in the trailer. Vick said. "I really enjoy Luke's work as I think he portrays the insecurity and grudging optimism of the contemporary man as well as any actor in any generation." He continued: "The music needed to be interesting, but a bit melancholy which resolves to an uplifting moment as the story continues lyrically. I'm really pleased with the effort and it will be submitted before the contest deadline on June 20. My hope is to have it available for posting on our own MySpace site, if that option is available. I don't know I'll have to read the fine print in the contest rules."

This is another example of how the entertainment industry is changing. The opportunities for fans and artists --film or music-- to get together via myspace and other cyber portals is becoming a critical element in the music industry. Old school thinking and stereo types of clueless potentates clinging hopelessly to "the way it used to be" is slowly flaking away as the painted veneer of a a molting industry is left to scatter into the ether of history.

"I really appreciate MySpace and the Movie Studio giving unsigned artists an opportunity get engaged in a fun exercise that I'm sure will end up resulting in dozens of thousands of entries. How they sift through all of those tracks will be the real challenge. So what we send in has to be not only on point as to what they are looking for emotionally, but it needs to be executed at a high level to have a chance for consideration." Vick continued: "This project has been a nice break from the live gigs and ongoing business of music as a job."
