My Brother is My Dad
Well, it's not exactly like it sounds!
Okay, we played a dawn gig today. We set up around Mile 2 of the Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure event in Dallas, Texas this morning.
The first 100 participants were indeed "runners." They were set to win the race and looked determined. Then as the rest of the 29,900 runners and walkers came by my brother Pat had a hard time singing as he was so emotional with all of the survivors and families memorializing their lost loved ones cheering US on! The family joke is that big tough daddy-o is a real sap when it comes to this kind of stuff and as we've all gotten older, we're getting more like him. Or at least Pat is.
It was indeed so very touching and we had a great time being a small part of a huge event.
It's hard to remember we have important issues to deal with right here, right now with all of the global natural disasters command so much of our attention. It was heartening to see a fabulous outpouring of support for the fight to eradicate cancer.
Congratulations to all of the participants for getting out there and being a part of the solution.
