We're Live Today and Welcome!
"The long and winding road that leads to your . . . computer!"
TrueHeart is attempting something not often tried. I know many, many people who plugged in and turned on as teenagers and young adults only to find that the lure of a different if not better way of scraping two pennies together was waiting out there. Some where. I know. I did it too.
Long ago, I made a conscious dedicated decision to leave all things of music and the related events and business behind. The separation was a painful one. I couldn't watch concerts on TV and seeing one live was misery. It took nearly 5 years for me to go buy my first CD after I took a "real" if paying job in the family sales and marketing firm. It was Till Tuesday's "Everythings Different Now." It was a revelation and was possibly the beginning of getting me back to this place--song writing, rehearsing, schlepping gear, gigging and now blogging.
Not long there after I discovered Lyle Lovette's "Joshua Judges Ruth" and k.d.lang's "ingenue" which still remain influential because of their quality and approach to music as art. Lyle because his lyrics are clever, his music is rich and his presentation is unique yet easy on the ears. k.d. because "ingenue" proved that pop music isn't dead and that we're all "constantly craving" vocal harmony and rich chord changes. There's cool music out there today, but most of it I hear through my kids iPods rather than the radio. Songwriting is like living: "you are what you eat." It doesn't take much imagination to figure out what TrueHeart's musical diet has consisted of over the years. I can't stand the thought of getting trapped into one niche and the variety of styles on each CD reveals this tendency.
The business is more sophisticated now: Websites sharing our music and information via the internet; our sounds and images as one website developer says "travelling at the speed of recycled electrons." There are alot of creative people out there.
Well, if you're reading this you're helping save a tree and TrueHeart appreciates how hard it is to wade through the cyber morass and find hopefully what you're looking for. Feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions for this website. It has our name on it, but it's really for you. Thanks for being here and we look forward to seeing you as Paul so poignantly said, along "The long and winding road."
